British-Made Poly Nucs – Not Imported

Our British-made poly nucs are produced using moulds designed by BS Honey Bees and manufactured in the UK. This ensures exact component fitting, consistent sizing, and full compatibility with our entire range of accessories.

Many imported Chinese EPP nuc boxes suffer from inferior moulding, poor tolerances, and weak structure—leading to loose roofs, gaps, and warping.

High-Density 120g/L EPS – Superior to EPP

We use 120g/L Expanded Polystyrene (EPS)—the industry standard for premium poly beekeeping equipment.

EPS at this density provides:

• Outstanding thermal insulation
  
• High durability against knocks, weather, and hive tool use
  
• Long lifespan
  
• Improved colony development, especially in early spring

By contrast, Chinese EPP nucs (Expanded Polypropylene) are known for:

• Poor insulation
  
• Soft, flexible structure
  
• Weak frame rests
  
• Lower density and shorter life
  
• Lightweight, cheap-feeling materials

When bees depend on stable heat retention, EPP simply cannot match EPS.
